Cromarty itself is a quaint old village with an old lighthouse. Situated on the very end of the peninsula, it feels like a very long way from anywhere.

Between Christmas and New Year, at the end of 2023, I had the opportunity to visit the Black Isle in north eastern Scotland. The day was incredibly clear and cold, with a biting wind coming in off the North Sea and Cromarty Firth. This is where old oil rigs, from the North Sea oil fields, go to die.
